
Easter in Milan – How to move around at Easter time
Easter is one of Italy’s most important holidays, second only to Christmas. The exact date of Easter varies each year but always falls on a Sunday between late March and late April. This year Easter falls on Sunday, April 17.
So, Easter holidays are just around the corner. This is the perfect opportunity to organize a few days in Italy, passing through one of the most famous cities in the north of the country: Milan, that you can easy visit with the public transports.
Milan is the Italian capital of fashion and shopping, but there are also a lot of places of historical and cultural interest, starting with the most iconic tourist attraction: the Milan Cathedral (“Duomo di Milano” in Italian). The main symbol of Milan is located on Piazza del Duomo, the historic center and best starting point for a stay in Milan.
The Cathedral will be open during the Easter Holydays, including on Easter Sunday.

Another top attraction in Milan is Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco), which hosts several museums. If you walk across the castle you can also find Parco Sempione, the largest public park in Milan. Parco Sempione will be a perfect place for a picnic or a walk during Easter Monday.
Milan’s urban transport authority ATM has announced service times over the Easter weekend from Saturday 16 to Monday 18 April:
- Easter Saturday the public transports will observe the normal Saturday timetables.
- On Easter Sunday and Monday (Pasquetta, also called Angel Monday), the urban transport services will run on the reduced holiday schedule.
